Echo and Narcissus - Waterfall

Echo and Narcissus - Waterfall
30X20

My second depiction of Echo and Narcissus is a little more traditional. It has been executed primarily in painting knife which can create a unique texture and depth in the artwork. The bold strokes and layers of paint effectively convey the emotions and elements of the tragic story .

In the myth, Echo was a nymph cursed by Hera to only repeat the last words spoken to her, while Narcissus was a young man who fell in love with his own reflection in a pool, and wasted away because he couldn't tear himself away from it. The story is rich in painful symbolism.
